The mission of the 1 Direction Prevention Coalition is to create a more connected and resilient community by implementing evidence-based prevention strategies. We are dedicated to providing valuable resources, support, and guidance to families in Emery County, Utah. About Communities that care...
The Communities That Care (CTC) is a evidence-based framework that helps communities address health and behaviors of children, youth and families.

Identify risk and protective factors: Communities use the CTC framework to identify and prioritize risk and protective factors.

Set goals: Communities use the CTC framework to set specific, measurable goals.

Select programs: Communities use the CTC framework to select and adopt tested, effective prevention programs.

Implement programs: Communities use the CTC framework to implement the chosen programs.

Monitor and evaluate: Communities use the CTC framework to monitor program implementation and reevaluate community levels of risk and protection.

Adjust programs: Communities use the CTC framework to make adjustments in prevention programming if indicated by the data.

Community Board
Who We Are...
The Community Board is a diverse group of individuals, agencies, organizations, and government entities united by a shared commitment to the coalition's vision and mission. Membership is open to all, embracing inclusivity and diversity without discrimination based on gender, race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. These members bring valuable expertise and passion for strengthening families and improving education and community well-being in Emery County.
Our Meetings
The Coalition holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Tuesday of each month, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Meetings alternate between Huntington and Castle Dale, with the location determined by the Coordinator/Chair, and a virtual option is available for convenience.

Our Services
Key Leader Board
Who We are...
The Key Leader Board (KLB) is a vital group of at least 15 members representing diverse sectors within the community. Our members include representatives from Youth, Caregivers/Parents, Businesses, Media, Schools/Education, Organizations Serving Children and Youth, Law Enforcement/Justice Agencies, Religious/Fraternal Organizations, Civic and Volunteer Groups, Healthcare Professionals, Culture/Diversity Groups, and State and Local Government Agencies.
We are an inclusive team, welcoming anyone who aligns with our vision, mission, and objectives, regardless of gender, race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
What we do...
Key Leaders play an essential role in supporting the coalition’s mission by:

Promoting the healthy development and well-being of children and youth in our community.

Educating others about the Communities That Care (CTC) evidence-based approach.

Assisting in securing resources and information to implement effective community programs.

Ensuring adherence to policies and practices for selected evidence-based programs.

Attending KLB meetings to oversee the coalition’s strategic action plan and objectives.
Our Meetings
The Key Leader Board meets quarterly, typically in February, May, August, and November, on the last Wednesday of the month from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate to accommodate attendees, with the location determined by the Coordinator/Chair. A virtual option is available for convenience.
To stay actively engaged, members are expected to participate in at least 50% of coalition activities annually, including meetings or event involvement.
